„Die Natur steckt in der Krise. Nach dem Verlust von Lebensr\u00e4umen sind die Auswirkungen invasiver nichtheimischer Arten einer der Hauptgr\u00fcnde f\u00fcr den weltweiten Verlust der biologischen Vielfalt. Dieser Verlust ist auf Inseln, die Epizentren des Vogelsterbens sind, am st\u00e4rksten zu sp\u00fcren. Ich bin stolz darauf, das Projekt „Mausfreies Marion“ zu unterst\u00fctzen, das darauf abzielt, das Gl\u00fcck von Millionen von Seev\u00f6geln wiederherzustellen und die Erholung des \u00d6kosystems der s\u00fcdafrikanischen Marion-Insel zu f\u00f6rdern. Die Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (K\u00f6nigliche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Vogelschutz) wird auch in Zukunft alles in ihrer Macht Stehende tun, um dieses lebenswichtige Projekt zu verwirklichen und ihm die gr\u00f6\u00dftm\u00f6glichen Erfolgschancen zu geben. Die RSPB ist mit \u00fcber einer Million Mitgliedern die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Naturschutzorganisation des Vereinigten K\u00f6nigreichs. Die Gesellschaft wurde 1889 gegr\u00fcndet und erhielt 1904 eine k\u00f6nigliche Charta. 1993 wurde sie nationaler Partner von BirdLife International. Die Arbeit umfasst Projekte zur Ausrottung von Nagetieren auf Seevogelinseln, darunter die Scilly-Inseln in England und die Shiant-Inseln in Schottland, sowie auf den britischen \u00dcberseegebieten St. Helena, Ascension und Tristan da Cunha (Insel Gough<\/a><\/strong>) im S\u00fcdatlantik und die Pitcairn-Inseln (Henderson Insel<\/a><\/strong>) im S\u00fcdpazifik. \n<\/strong> und mit nationalen BirdLife-Partnern zusammen, um V\u00f6gel und ihre Lebensr\u00e4ume auf der ganzen Welt zu erhalten. In den 1990er Jahren half die RSPB-Unterst\u00fctzung BirdLife S\u00fcdafrika mehrere Jahre lang, sich 1996 als nationaler Partner zu etablieren und zu einer Organisation mit 40 Mitarbeitern und \u00fcber 5000 Mitgliedern zu wachsen. \n<\/strong>Er best\u00e4tigt, dass die Unterst\u00fctzung des RSPB entscheidend dazu beigetragen hat, dass die Gesellschaft so weit gewachsen ist, dass sie nun mit dem s\u00fcdafrikanischen Ministerium f\u00fcr Forstwirtschaft, Fischerei und Umwelt zusammenarbeiten kann, um das wohl bisher gr\u00f6\u00dfte Vogelschutzprojekt des Landes zu verwirklichen: die Ausrottung der Albatrosse t\u00f6tenden M\u00e4use auf der subantarktischen Insel Marion. Er weist darauf hin, dass der RSPB BirdLife S\u00fcdafrika weiterhin unterst\u00fctzt, indem er einige der Schl\u00fcsselpositionen der Organisation finanziert, darunter die beiden Mitarbeiter der Albatross Task Force.<\/p>\n
