The Mouse-Free Marion (MFM) Project has commenced a quarterly newsletter to send to its supporters and to inform of progress towards eradicating the island’s albatross-killing mice in 2024.

Issue No. 1 for April 2022 can be found under RESOURCES/Publications on the MFM website, as well as via Facebook and Instagram.

The 10-page newsletter includes illustrated articles on activities on the go for the year (including on BirdLife South Africa’s highly successful “Flock to Marion 2022” voyage with hundreds of birders aboard), and on field work on mice commencing on Marion this month.

The Mouse-Free Marion Newsletter is introduced with a welcome by MFM Project Manager,  Anton Wolfaardt.

The Mouse-Free Marion Project is a registered non-profit company (No. 2020/922433/08) in South Africa, established to eradicate the invasive albatross-killing mice on Marion Island in the Southern Ocean. The project was initiated by BirdLife South Africa and the South African Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.  Upon successful completion, the project will restore the critical breeding habitat of over two million seabirds, many globally threatened, and improve the island’s resilience to a warming climate.  For more information or to support the project please visit mousefreemarion.org.
